It is with heavy pop hearts we have to tell you George Michael and Martika have done a Madonna and pulled the plug on their respective Australian tours.
George Michael's nine date, five city tour was cancelled today, with the following statement from Mr Michael: "I have today announced the cancellation of the shows in Australia which breaks my heart. By way of explanation all I can say at this time is that since last year's illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience... All that's left for me to do is apologise to my wonderful Australian fan base and to promise faithfully that as soon as I complete these shows here in the UK I will receive the treatment which is so long overdue."
Martika hasn't released any heartfelt statements as yet, but her promoter has apologised on her behalf, and we're sure the reasons for cancelling her tour are totally solid.
Both Martika and George Michael have promptly announced that all tickets are fully refundable. Go here for George Michael refund deets and here to find out how your Martika ticket moolah will make its way back to you, and don't worry about returning your hardcopy ticket, just stick it up on your wall as a tribute to undying pop love.
The good news is we have a whole page of tours for you to peruse and find something else to spend your brand new extra cash on.
