Sydney's Belvoir Street Theatre and Melbourne's Malthouse Theatre have announced thier 2013 programs, co-producing some exceptional plays for the season ahead.
Some of Australia's best young directors deliver a star cast including Toby Schmitz, Robyn Nevin, Brendan Cowell, Meyne Wyatt, and Jacqueline McKenzie.
Showing at both theatres in Sydney and Melbourne are Persona, Adena Jacobs’ staging of Ingmar Bergman’s most intimate film, and the humerous Stories I Want to Tell You in Person by Lally Katz.
Going to the theatre is like a "kind of one-night stand" that can turn into an affair according Belvoir Street's Artistic Director, Ralph Myers.
"We develop a relationship. You only have to go to the theatre once to realise that it’s a thousand miles from the passive task of watching TV" he says.
The 2013 theatre programs at Belvoir Street and Malthouse Theatres promise some intense emotional relationships, sending you from fits of giggles and grins into moments of deep thought and eye waterworks.
